. . President Judge Emeritus Esther R. Sylvester ---
Judge Esther R. Sylvester commenced service on the Court of Judicial Discipline in 1996 after appointment by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. She was elected President Judge by members of the Court of Judicial Discipline in June 1999.

Judge Sylvester became a commissioned judge on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in January 1986 for a 10-year term; was commissioned for a second 10-year term in January 1996. Judge Sylvester also served as Administrative Judge of Philadelphia Family Court from 1992 until 1996. She was re-appointed by the Supreme Court as Administrative Judge of Philadelphia Family Court on December 20, 2000.

She is a graduate of Rosemont College and Villanova Law School.

Judge Sylvester was an active trial lawyer for twenty-one years in private practice during which she served eight years in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office; two years as Chief Counsel to the Philadelphia Police Department; one year as Acting President of Rosemont College; four years as Vice President and Corporate Counsel and Secretary for Greate Bay Hotel and Casino, Inc.

She served in the Juvenile Court Judges Commission from 1992-1996; Supreme Court Domestic Relations Rules Commission from 1992-1996; Pennsylvania Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession from 1996-1998. She is a member of the Justinian Society and the Order of Sons of Italy - L.A.M. - Valley Forge Lodge.
