Past Judge Justin M. Johnson
Justin M. Johnson has been a judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania
since December 1980. Prior to appointment to that court, he was a
partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Berkman Ruslander Pohl Lieber
& Engel. He is a member of the American, National, Pennsylvania and
Allegheny County Bar Associations and a Fellow of the American Bar
Foundation. Judge Johnson serves on the board of the Pennsylvania
Bar Institute. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners
from 1969 to 1989, serving as its chairperson from 1983 to 1989. In
1996 he completed a concurrent two-year term on the Pennsylvania Court
of Judicial Discipline. He was an adjunct professor at the Duquesne
University School of Law from 1985 to 1990, teaching Professional
Responsibility. He served on the Permanent Judicial Commission of
the General Assembly, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) from 1981 to 1989,
on the Advisory Committee on the Constitution of that same body from
1989 to 1996, and is currently serving on the Advisory Committee on
Litigation since 1997. Judge Johnson served on his denomination's
Criminal Justice Advisory Committee from 1989 until the Committee
was disbanded as a result of reorganization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
in 1993. He has been appointed a Life Trustee of Carnegie Mellon University
and also serves on the board of Princeton Theological Seminary.
