President Judge Emeritus John W. Morris
On September 13, 2008, Governor Edward G. Rendell appointed John W. Morris to serve on the Court of Judicial Discipline. Mr. Morris previously served as Chairman of the Judicial Conduct Board by appointment of former Governor Thomas J. Ridge. Judge Morris was unanimously elected President Judge for a term beginning August 16, 2011.
Mr. Morris has practiced civil and criminal trial law in Philadelphia since 1970 and is currently Of Counsel to the firm of Kaufman, Coren & Ress, P.C. He served as First Assistant District Attorney of Philadelphia from 1975 to 1978. In 1998, he was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to serve on the Disciplinary Board where he was Chairman of its Rules Committee from 1998 to 2003. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has lectured on trial techniques throughout the country.
Mr. Morris graduated from Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is married to Virginia Fraser Morris and lives in Center City, Philadelphia.
