Judge Stewart L. Kurtz, P.J.E.
Judge Kurtz was appointed to the Court of Common Pleas of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in April of 1992. He was elected in 1993 and reelected in 2003. On August 16, 2007 he was appointed to the Court of Judicial Discipline by the Governor of Pennsylvania.
He was elected District Attorney of Huntingdon County and served from 1976 until July, 1992. Judge Kurtz served as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania from 1969-1971.
Judge Kurtz graduated in 1966 from Franklin and Marshall College with a B.A. degree, and graduated from Villanova Law School in 1969 with a J.D. degree.
He was appointed by the Supreme Court to the Civil Procedural Rules Committee in 2004 and reappointed in 2007 and currently serves as Chairman.
